Satellite Internet For RVs

Find out how to travel and stay connected with satellite internet for RVs.

What’s not to like about the RV lifestyle? Traveling for a few weeks or a few months surrounded by many of the comforts of home is pretty appealing. And it’s gotten even better for those who don’t like doing without their internet connection. With satellite internet for RVs, you can bring high speed internet with you while you travel.

You don’t have to be retired to spend extended time on the road. It’s possible to travel and earn a living running an online business while you do it. But only if you have a reliable high speed internet source. With RV satellite internet you can stay connected virtually anytime and anyplace.

How the system works depends on whether or not your recreational vehicle comes internet ready. Many newer units come equipped with a satellite system already installed. If you have this, you are all set.

If your trailer or motorhome does not have a satellite internet system, then your best option is to get a portable unit. You’ll get the same high speed internet quality with either type.

The basic difference between the two is in how they are deployed. The pre-installed units are deployed automatically, while the portable units need to be deployed manually.

With RVs that are internet ready, the satellite system is easy to use. When making a stop, whether it’s for a few minutes or few days, activate your unit by clicking your mouse or pushing a button. It will automatically deploy from its rooftop location and quickly align to receive the optimum signal.

Portable units take longer to set up since it has to be done manually. But even so, it won’t take more than 10 or 15 minutes to be up and running. Simply locate the tripod unit in an area where there will be an unobstructed view of the southern sky. Then align the unit to get a strong satellite signal.

It’s not as complicated as it may sound. And there are some advantages to having a portable unit. For example, if your site is in a tree filled area, getting a good signal may be easier since you can move the tripod around to get the clear view of the sky that’s needed.

But of course the disadvantage of a portable unit is that it has to be taken down and stored away until you set up camp again. You probably won’t want to go to all that trouble if you’re making a quick stop for lunch. With the pre-installed unit, just push that button and check your email while you're having lunch.

With satellite internet for RVs, you can easily run an online business. So if you’d like to live the RV lifestyle but you still have to earn a living, or supplement a retirement income, this may be just what you need.
